About the Virginia Club Soccer League (VCSL)
The Virginia Club Soccer League (VCSL) features more than 20 member clubs across the state and provides competitive divisions for boys’ and girls’ teams from U11 through U19. The league is professionally managed and offers innovative programs such as a Directors of Coaching Leadership Council, Club Champion awards, All-Star teams, promotional initiatives, and coach education opportunities.
Joining the VCSL represents an exciting new chapter for Southside Soccer Club, expanding our programming to include competitive travel soccer while maintaining our long-standing commitment to a valuable and meaningful recreational soccer experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does this mean for the NC Fusion affiliation?
Nothing changes! We plan to stay engaged with NC Fusion and continue participating in Advanced Level Rec play. However, some teams that have previously played under the NC Fusion Southside name will now enter VCSL league play as Southside Soccer Club.
How do I try out for a VCSL travel team?
Stay tuned! We are finalizing tryout dates now and will share all details soon through our website, email, and social media.
What ages are offered for travel play?
VCSL travel divisions are offered from U11 through U19 for both boys and girls.
Can my child play both travel and recreational soccer?
Unfortunately, due to the expanded travel schedule and higher level of commitment, players will not be able to participate in VCSL travel play and continue to participate in recreational.
What are the costs for travel play?
Player dues are $500 per season, not including the uniform fee.
Installment payments are available, allowing families to set up monthly payment plans.
Will there be girls’ teams?
We certainly hope so! The VCSL offers travel play for girls’ teams beginning at U11, and we would love to build and grow a strong girls’ program here at Southside.
Where will games be played?
Home 11v11 games will be played at Hargrave Military Academy.
Home 9v9 games will be played at Southside Soccer Complex.
Away games will be played at the hosting clubs’ locations across Virginia.
How do I know if my child is trying out for a Fusion Advanced Level Rec (ALR) or VCSL team?
It depends on several factors. Team placement will be determined based on the collective skill level of the group, the number of players available, and where the team best fits competitively. Our staff will carefully evaluate each team and place them in the environment that best supports both player development and team success.
